OBAMA NOMINATED

6.3.08

Mr. Obama has me excited about American politics for the first time in forever.

Growing up in a region of social democrat liberals has provided a basis of understanding and progressive thought. This of course was enriched with a healthy concept of radicalism. We have brothers and sisters in our nation who cannot vote. The votes that do occur are cast into a bottomless pit of bureaucracy known as the electoral college. Emma Goldman once said, “If voting changed anything, they would make it illegal”. That’s still true.

And no, he won’t end this war. He won’t subvert the conservative political machine. But my generation starves for a leader capable of pulling our nation out of the dregs.

And yes, we can.
